My Home Office Wishlist

Currently my ‘office’ is a bit of a dumping ground. It’s a lovely space, with a brilliant window nook for a desk, but it’s full of higgeldy-piggedly furniture and it just isn’t conductive to working. I did buy a fairly nice desk from IKEA, but my hungover friend put it together for me, and now the desk resembles her hangover in that it’s a bit wobbly and the drawer won’t open.

I have a few other things on my to do list first before I can start on my office renovations (wedding, pass my driving test, go self-hosted on my blog!) but I can’t resist browsing for my dream furniture and accessories!

Like this beautiful Ginsberg desk

It’s quite pricey at £269, but if you are going to buy something classic that’s going to last I don’t think you could go wrong with a piece like this.

A more budget version would be the Lillasen Desk from IKEA

I really like the legs on this one, and it’s also attractive because it’s made from sustainable wood – bamboo!

I think this desk would look great with this lamp, also from IKEA on it. This is the Riggad LED Lamp, and I love it because I’m such a massive gadget geek – it has a base you can put your phone on to charge!! *lusty face*

I accidentally stumbled upon the Marks & Spencers homeware range yesterday when I was at Westfields Stratford (I got dragged to the top floor by my friends who were using the Bureau de Change that lives on the top floor of M&S. Who knew?!)

Anyway, I digress. I chanced upon this gorgeous chair, which I think would also go with either desk – the colours are lovely, and I think you could theme the office colour scheme around it. It’s brighter in real life than the picture.

Seeing as this is going to be my thinking, dreaming and wishing space, I might need an inspirational quote. I never like the ones I see in shops, so I think I would create my own with a website like BeFunky. I quickly knocked this one up using a picture I took on our trip to Derbyshire in February and paired it with my favourite quote.

I’m busily pinning all these ideas and other various bits and bobs (I am such a sucker for stationery!) to my Pinterest board – check it out if you want!

What would you have in your dream home office? I’d love to see any photos of your existing home working oasis’!

  1. Your Pinterest board is lush – I’d definitely have some of those drawers that have everything in a compartment (I keep telling my husband I’d be happy if everything in my life was either in a box or basket). And I love that Derbyshire is the backdrop to your (very) inspirational quote – am fortunate enough to live there, its fab. My sewing room recently became a nursery for our little one so I’m currently lusting after a studio space, oh how I enjoy dreaming of how that would look 🙂

  2. I love the desk! The IKEA one is nice too, not bad at all. If I had a home office, I would splurge on the original one though :p

  3. I think I would just really like to have a space to work in, tbh. I’d probably have a tree decal on the wall and upcycled furniture I bought from charity shops everywhere! Oh, now you’ve got me thinking… #KCACOLS

  4. I think I have a Pinterest account, but I have no idea what the log-in was. I’ll try to get back in!!!! I work in a charity furniture store and we get so many of those bureaus in – LOVE THEM. My latest project is a display cabinet for all the weird crap I collect!

  5. I look love stationary! We’re in the midst of transferring Mini R to his new bedroom and the misery is going to become a dressing room/office. I need a nice desk/dressing table but my wardrobes etc are in beech which IKEA don’t do anymore. I can’t deal with non matching wood. #Kcacols

  6. Oh for a desk … and an office! I perch on the end of the sofa at the moment. The original G is LUSH and now I’m going to dream of it, together with Waterman fountain pens and endless time to myself … hope you get your dream space soon 🙂 #KCACOLS

    1. Oh it’s Mont Blanc for me! I always told myself if I ever wrote a book and earned any royalties that would be the first thing I would buy myself 🙂 xx

  7. That Ginsberg desk is gorgeous! I don’t really need an office but I am dreaming of a cookie workstation where I can keep all my cookie cutters, food colorings, projector, tools etc in organized cabinets and a work space to decorate my cookies.

  8. Love the Ginsberg desk! I am awful at design and choosing furniture but I would love a little writing nook, there would need to be books all around me! The lamp is a great idea too, so handy.

Your ideas are lovely, hope you achieve the space you want! #KCACOLS

  9. I love that first desk, it’s beautiful and would be totally wasted in my house! My desk currently has a hamster on it and some post. #KCACOLS

  10. Ah I love a good home office. Mine is not in a great state at the moment, 🙁 so untidy, papers every where!!! I need to get that organised soon. We actually had a new home office a couple of years ago and I’m happy with it but I just hate that I can’t keep it nice and tidy any more. No time!! Love your ideas! Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. You are always amazing within this linky!! I really appreciate all the comments that you do!! I would love to see you again tomorrow, 🙂 xx

  11. Oh yes! I LOVE that chair! I am working towards putting my home office back together now that our kitchen makeover is finished and my office is no longer our temporary kitchen! I need to go and look for that chair! #HomeEtc

  12. I have recently bought a desk I love. It started out tidy, but looks a bit messy now. My next step is a home office, but we need a lottery win for that I think lol. I love that lamp, I may have to save some pennies for that.

  13. We are currently doing up our two living rooms and one is going to be part home office for me. I have been lusting after exactly the same style desk as that first one!! It’s gorgeous, isn’t it?! A xx

  14. I’m lucky enough to have a home office but it is a total tip! I have an eBay shop and much of my listed and unlisted stock in there not very well organised. I have a crazy purge and rearrange but it looks a mess. I bought myself a desk that is similar to the Ikea one you like. I put it together myself – not hungover but made a mess of the drawer that won’t open. It needs a total makeover with a full wall of shelving, a desk that his fully functional. One plus is that I treated myself to a fabuloys dream quilted faux leather chair and I love it!
